Clinton rubin goes remote

The effects of today’s fast pace changes on the workplace leave many organizations wondering how to successfully continue projects to meet deadlines and go live dates. The decisions to keep employees and contractors safe require quick thinking that may stray some organizations away from their goals. Clinton Rubin has already proven its ability to adapt to changes, alter methods of consulting without losing authenticity and lead teams to continue toward project success.

Clinton Rubin has been onsite on a large project since November 2019. The project has over 40 different people working from all over the world. A call was made late one week that all consultants were to work remotely, indefinitely, during the pandemic. With deadlines, a go-live date in early 2021, and a massive project underway, there was little time to consider how these changes would alter the project.

Clinton Rubin, along with the client and other consulting firms, set up bi-daily calls with each project team and leadership in order to report success and challenges teams faced each day. This gave the client up-to-date information in order to mitigate surprises on weekly status calls. On top of this, the large teams worried about losing the important in-person contact of seeing others around the building and having the ability to ask quick questions or gain opinions as needed. The teams shared up-to-date cell phone information and encouraged members across any team to reach out with any questions, concerns or quick brainstorm sessions. This helped to alleviate the unease that came with the inability to see and collaborate with another team member walking around onsite.

During this phase of the project, Clinton Rubin is leading the specification discussion sessions. These, usually held in a large meeting room, would now need to go entirely remote. The challenges of in-person meetings alter the way in which teams can collaborate and stay on task. Further, without being onsite, following up on to-dos with colleagues becomes increasingly difficult. Clinton Rubin’s expert teams are still able to facilitate these meetings and keep members goal-oriented when gaining new specification approvals. Each week, the team continues to meet the requirements.

The changes made across the world in a short time will no doubt change the way organizations consider remote work options for the future. It is vital to have a plan in place in case something like this comes into play again. Although unprecedented, Clinton Rubin has been able to conquer remote work and ensure that the project remains on task and successful.
